Sheila Jamison Recognized as a 2012 Five Star Wealth Manager
Five Star Professional has named Sheila Jamison as a recipient of the 2012 Five Star Wealth Manager award.
Five Star Professional partnered with Manhattan Magazine to identify a select group of wealth managers who are exceptional in their ability and their commitment to client satisfaction. Of the approximately 88,500 wealth managers in the New York Metropolitan area, fewer than 0.1% were selected. The winners appear in the May/June issue of Manhattan Magazine.
The survey included one in twelve high-net-worth-households (more than 80,000 consumers) and 72,000 financial services professionals within the New York Tri-State area. Respondents evaluated wealth managers they knew through personal experience based upon nine criteria. Both negative and positive evaluations were included in the scoring. Only wealth managers with a minimum of five years of experience were considered. Each wealth manager was reviewed for regulatory actions, civil judicial actions and customer complaints as reported by regulatory agencies. The final list was reviewed by a panel of local financial services industry professionals. The outcome identified financial service professionals who created the highest overall satisfaction.

Sheila will be attending the Berkshire Hathaway Annual meeting in Omaha at the end of this month. (As an aside: I’ve previously kept this under wraps so as not to scare/intimidate/frighten/warn Warren Buffet.)
Update: Sheila attended the shareholders’ meeting. Click here for her take on the event.
And saving the best for last, we are proud to announce that Lawrence G. McDonald has chosen to affiliate with the Jamison Financial Group. You may already be familiar with Larry from his book, the NY Times best-seller A Colossal Failure of Common Sense: the Inside Story of the Collapse of Lehman Brothers. (Larry was Vice President of Distressed Debt and Convertible Securities trading there. If you haven’t read the book, you should. It’s one of those “hard-to-set-down” books.)
Sheila and Larry met last summer when he presented at the Investors Capital meeting. We had numerous conversations after that. Larry was returning greater focus to the investment side of his business. Still, his many media appearances suggested he needed to have reliable backup for the times he was not immediately available. Larry felt our expertise, complemented by our integrity, would let him feel comfortable with his clients in our hands. Meanwhile, we were equally impressed by his depth and breadth of knowledge, and felt he would be a valuable addition to the group’s overall experience and abilities. I have never talked with anyone who knew more about convertible bonds than Larry does. He will serve as Chairman of our Investment Committee.
